Early Life
- He has a younger sister named Jung Ji-hye.
- Several members of his family worked in the legal industry. When he was younger he wanted to be a prosecutor.
- At the age of thirteen he joined SM Entertainment, after winning a dance competition: 1st Annul SM Best Competition.
- He chose his stage name U-Know because being the leader of the group, he wanted to understand everybody as in "I know you" and "I know that you know that I know you, so you know that I know that we know each other".

- Cyanoacrylate Drink Poisoning
- While TVXQ was filming a variety show on October 14, 2006, Yunho was rushed to the hospital after drinking a beverage, which was laced with super glue, that had been given to him by an anti-fan. His manager quickly instructed him to vomit right afterward. The anti-fan turned herself in the next day. The female suspect, whose surname is Ko, was apprehended on October 16 and was found to be a member of an anti-TVXQ website for over two years. Yunho was hospitalized for a few days
- Yunho, who has a younger sister the same age as the culprit, contacted the police and requested that they not press charges against Ko in spite of the potentially severe consequences of what she did. He mentioned on a television show a while after he had recovered that the entire event "affected [him] more mentally than physically". Circumstances were unclear as to how the culprit managed to enter the building of the broadcasting station.
- Military Enlistment
- Yunho was inducted into the Republic of Korea Armed Forces on July 21, 2015. He received five weeks of basic training at Yangju, Gyeonggi Province, and was the leader of his squad. A completion ceremony for the recruits was held on August 27, and Yunho was awarded with the "Best Recruit" honor. Yunho officially joined the military band for the 26th Mechanized Infantry Division on August 31. He was honored as a Special Warrior on May 9, 2016. Yunho will be discharged from service on April 20, 2017.
- Music
- In late 2001 at the age of fifteen, Yunho appeared in label-mate Dana's music video for her song "Diamond" as a rapper and backup dancer.
- In 2003, after years of training, Yunho debuted as one of the members of TVXQ, and was appointed leader.
- In 2009, for The 2nd Asia Tour Concert 'O', he performed his self-composed song "Spokesman" and was one of the featured rappers in "Heartquake" from Super Junior's third album, Sorry, Sorry. For the Tohoshinki 4th Live Tour 2009: The Secret Code in Tokyo Dome, Yunho performed his other self-composed song "Checkmate" in Japanese. He later performed the Korean version during The 3rd Asia Tour Concert - MIROTIC.
- In February 2010, during TVXQ's indefinite hiatus, it was announced that Yunho would be performing in the Korea leg of the posthumous concert This Is It dedicated to legendary icon Michael Jackson. He trained in Los Angeles and Las Vegas with Genevieve Cleary, Morris Pleasure, and others who worked closely with Jackson in early March. The project was the first joint production between Korea and the U.S. He performed on March 27 and 28 at the War Memorial of Korea, Yongsan-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul.
- From August to September 2010, Yunho and Max Changmin performed as TVXQ in Seoul, Los Angeles and Shanghai as part of the SMTown Live '10 World Tour. The duo performed a special stage featuring a medley of their previous singles and a new song, "Maximum". He performed a demo of "Why" as a solo, and Max performed a still unreleased song "Big Time" as his.
- For TVXQ's fifth Korean album Keep Your Head Down Yunho had his own solo "Honey Funny Bunny", and later performed a Japanese version with a new rap addition for Tohoshinki's fifth Japanese tour, Tohoshinki Live Tour 2012 ~ TONE.
- On February 27, 2014, TVXQ released a repackage album, 수리수리 (Spellbound), of their tenth anniversary album Tense in which Yunho performed and co-written his solo track "November with Love."
- In July 2015, Yunho released his first mini solo album, U KNOW Y, which consisted of songs that were previously performed by Yunho during TVXQ's concerts and solo events in Japan. The mini album was a limited release and was solely made available for purchase to members of TVXQ's Japanese fanclub, Bigeast.
- Because of their 2-year hiatus, SM Entertainment released TVXQ's 8th full-length album, Rise as God on July 20, 2015. Both members had two separate title tracks. Yunho's title track was "Champagne" a dance pop song, while Changmin had an EDM song titled "Rise as One".
- Acting
- In 2005 and 2006 Yunho appeared with TVXQ on their mini-drama series "Banjun Theater". He appeared again in another TVXQ mini-drama series "Vacation" in episode one "Cassiopeia" with Go Eun Ah and Woo Kyung Ah.
- He made a guest appearance on episodes 62 and 64 of Nonstop in 2006.
- In 2009 Yunho was cast as the lead, Cha Bong Gon, in the MBC drama "Heading to the Ground" with labelmate Go Ara. The drama ran for 16 episodes.
- Yunho was cast in June 2010 to share the lead role Prince Shin in the musical remake of "Goong". Tickets for Yunho's performances sold out within less than two minutes. The musical, produced by Group Eight, opened at the Seoul National Museum’s theater on September 8.
- In September 2010, he starred in the Korea tourism promotional movie "Haru: An Unforgettable Day in Korea" as an action movie star. He also starred in "Chorus City" a film featured at the Republic of Korea Pavilion at EXPO 2010 Shanghai China with child actress Jun Min Seo and other artists.
- Late 2010 Yunho was cast in a supporting role in the drama Poseidon. He began filming in November and pictures of him filming and on set were released. In February 2011 it was dropped by SBS citing weather conditions, cast members dropping out, filming setbacks, and numerous postponements. "Poseidon" was then picked up by KBS in June, recasting the lead roles. Due to his busy schedule overseas, Yunho was unable to rejoin "Poseidon", but it was revealed in August that he would be making a guest appearance as Kang Eun Chul, a competitive rival to Choi Siwon's character. His appearance in the series concluded after four episodes.
- In late November 2011, a teaser trailer of "I Live in Cheongdam-dong" showed Yunho making a cameo in the sitcom. He cameoed in the first episode as himself, refusing to pay for a late manhwa bill, a play on Yunho once in real-life being kicked out of a manhwa shop for forgetting to pay is overdue bills.
- In 2012, Yunho, along with bandmate Changmin, starred in the SM documentary I AM. The film chronicles TVXQ's and other SM artists milestone to be the first Asian artists to perform at Madison Square Garden and Yunho and Changmin's journey to that point, including archival footage, reflection interviews, and rehearsals.
- In September 2012, it was announced that he had been cast in "Gwanghwamun Sonata" as the young version of the main character, Sang-hoon. The musical, set in the 80s, tells the story of Sang-hoon, a composer during the democratic movement, through another character twenty years before. Sang-hoon loves a woman, Yeo-joo, along with his friend Hyun-woo, but Sang-hoon contains his feelings for her in numerous songs instead of expressing them to her through words unlike Hyun-woo who shows his feelings directly. Because of this Yeo-joo stays by Hyun-woo's side, and Sang-hoon lets go of Yeo-joo and turns back to his songs and lives in loneliness and solitude. Yunho performed, in the first Japanese performance of the musical, on November 20 and 21 at Osaka’s Shinkabukiza. Both performances were sold out. In the musical he plays the guitar and piano live.
- During early December 2012, it was announced that Yunho was cast in the SBS drama Queen of Ambition and would air in January 2013. He started filming toward the end of December. The drama premiered on January 14, 2013 and Yunho made his first appearance as Baek Do Hoon in episode two.
